Model UN at Genoa
The Model United Nations program at Woodstock has again expanded its boundaries. As each year progresses, our participation takes a higher level in debating and modeling the United Nations conference setup. This year an experienced group of 10 students (3 seniors and 7 juniors) with two teachers attended the GenoaMUN conference in Italy, hosted by the Genoa city council and schools 26-28 February. This opportunity provided a platform to interact with different schools, practice presenting speeches and debating at a professional level. Chaperone and history teacher Amy Seefeldt (WS class of 1993) notes: I am delighted that my introduction to the Model United Nations program at Woodstock comes through this Genoa experience. I can see how trips like these groom our students for global citizenship. Under Amy Seefeldt's guidance, Woodstock will be again offering AP European History next academic year. This trip to Genoa whetted students' academic appetites for more such opportunities to see their textbooks come to life.
