Summer at Woodstock – Frequently Asked Questions

Tuition

The fee includes tuition for all courses and activities provided at Summer at Woodstock.

 

Accommodation

The fee includes accommodation provided at the Woodstock dorms. Participants will have Woodstock dorm parents assigned to look after their pastoral needs.

 

Meals

We try and cater for all tastes, as well as a range of dietary requirements.  The information packet participants will receive by early May will collect this important information to shape our planning. The programme includes all meals and snacks in the morning, afternoon, and evening.

 

Transportation

The programme fee includes transportation between Dehradun Airport and the Woodstock School campus at scheduled times on June 1 and June 2, 2019. If a participant needs to be picked up from New Delhi International airport, Woodstock will have its staff travel to pick up and accompany such students to Mussoorie.

 

Medical Services

Woodstock has an equipped Health Centre that has medical staff available 24/7. In case a student has any medical needs, our staff would be available to support them. There is a local hospital near the school which can address minor injuries. For any major illnesses and emergencies that cannot be addressed in Mussoorie, Woodstock uses the services of Max Super Specialty Hospital in Dehradun. The information packet participants will receive by early May will include an important medical form describing any anticipated medical needs that a participant has.

 

Furnishings

All participants will be provided bed linens, towels, pillows and blankets during their stay for the Summer Program.

 

Educational Supplies

All participants will be provided educational supplies and materials during the Summer Programme.

 

Weekend Excursions and Trips

Various excursions and class related trips will be organised for participants over the weekend.

When can we arrive at Woodstock?

We would be delighted to welcome parents as they drop off their children directly at Woodstock School, any time on Sunday, June 2nd from noon onwards. We will be hosting a welcome reception for parents to meet each other, take a tour, and get a sense of the school. Following the reception, participants will move into their rooms and be fully engaged with the programme for the following three weeks.

If you are not able to escort your child to the school, we do offer the below travel options that ensure your child will be well taken care of by Woodstock staff.

 

Travelling from within India

Please organise flights to Dehradun’s Jolly Grant Airport, arriving by 2 pm on Sunday, June 2nd and departing at the latest by 2pm on Saturday, June 22nd. Woodstock chaperones will meet students at the Dehradun airport and will transport them directly to and from Woodstock.

 

Travelling from outside India

Please organise flights to Delhi that arrive on June 1st. Woodstock chaperones will meet students at the airport and take them to a hotel where they can rest until later on Sunday, June 2nd when they shall be transported directly to Woodstock. Pickup and transportation from New Delhi International Airport to the Woodstock School campus will attract an extra charge of INR 8,000 per child.

 

Do I need a Visa?

Participants who are not Indian, Bhutanese, or Nepali nationals require a student visa, issued by the local Indian Consulate General or its associated visa agency. The school is happy to support this application process through providing a letter and a copy of the school’s registration. A scanned copy of the participant’s passport is required by Woodstock in order to issue these documents. Please do not hesitate to email summer@woodstock.ac.in for support in applying for visas.

Do I need to bring pocket money?

We do ask that a small amount of pocket money is brought for any gifts to take home or tuck shop sweets, or to spend at the airport while waiting for flights. We suggest bringing no more than INR 2,000. If required, Foreign currency may be exchanged at the Delhi airport. In addition, there are two ATMs on the Woodstock campus.

 

What shall I pack?

A complete list will be included in the information packet participants will receive in early May.

 

Should I bring my own laptop or tablet?

You should bring your own laptop or tablet.

 

Will I have a roommate?

Yes, you will have roommate/ roommates. Boys and girls are accommodated in separate dorms.

 

What about technology?

You will have access to wi-fi connectivity on campus 24 x 7. We do however insist that students turn in all electronic devices to dorm parents every night. Due to the terrain we do not get a great cellphone coverage on some areas of campus.

 

Can I call my parents?

Due to the terrain, we do not get a great cellphone coverage on some areas of campus. But you will be able to call your parents between 6 to 7 p.m. every day.

 

What about my laundry?

We have washers and dryers in every dorm and students can use them as per their requirements.

 

What you need to know about the first day of Summer at Woodstock?

Students will have an orientation session on the first day of Summer at Woodstock where they will be provided with a welcome packet including their schedule and other essential information.

 

Will my child be safe at Woodstock?

Being an international school, Woodstock has 24/7 security all around our campus. We have a strict child protection policy that we seriously adhere to, and it is followed at all times. All staff are required to read and sign this policy before they are contracted. All staff, including external providers, undergo a background check as part of our statutory procedures.

Dates of the summer programme

The programme begins from Monday, June 3 to Friday, June 21, 2019.

 

Fees

The fee for Summer at Woodstock 2019 is INR 1,25,000. An additional 18% Goods and Services Tax (GST) would be applicable on this amount. The total amount payable to Woodstock school is INR 1,47,500. We require a deposit of  INR 20,000 to reserve a spot on any course. Payments can be made through Woodstock’s online Payment Portal.

Following the deposit, the remaining amount of INR 1,27,500 is due by May 1, 2019.

 

The above programme fee covers:

  • Transportation between Dehradun Airport and the Woodstock School campus at scheduled times on June 1 and June 2, 2019
  • Tuition for all major courses and activities
  • Meals and accommodation
  • Medical services at Woodstock’s Health Centre
  • Bed linens, towels, pillows, and blankets
  • Educational supplies and materials
  • Weekend excursions and class-related trips

 

Other expenses not included in the programme fee:

  • Pickup and transportation from New Delhi International Airport to the Woodstock School campus will attract an extra charge of INR 8,000 per child

Step One – Register Interest

First, click here to complete and submit the registration form. Once we receive your form we will send you a welcome email which includes a link to the full application form.

 

Step Two – Complete the Online Application

Applicants must submit the Online Application Form. As part of this process, the Summer at Woodstock team may reach out to understand the each applicant’s passions and interests better, as well as to evaluate whether the programme is the best fit for the applicant.

 

Step Three – Deposit

We require an INR 20,000 deposit to reserve a spot on any course. Payments can be made through Woodstock’s online Payment Portal.

Step Four – Full Fee Payment
