Calling India from Overseas

You may want to telephone a hotel or other entity from outside India before you come. To make a call to India from the US or Canada for example, precede the number with +91 (country code for India) and 135 (city code for Mussoorie). Calling a land line in India, you need to follow the +91 135 xxxxxxx (for Mussoorie) or +91 11 xxxxxxx (for New Delhi). Calling a Cell phone number in India you would need to dial +91 and the Cell phone number

Using Cell Phones in India

You can purchase an Indian SIM card at airports and many shops now, that will allow you to add data and minutes to your unlocked phone while you are in India. Check with your phone provider if you have an international phone. Visitors who stay for a longer period of time sometimes purchase an inexpensive Indian mobile phone with prepaid SIM. Any SIM-card purchase requires photos and copies of your passport and visa, so bring extra ones if you expect to do this.

WIFI Access

There is widespread internet access in India. Most hotels provide Wi-Fi access. Alumni visitors to Woodstock can log onto the guest wireless service with their laptops while on school grounds.

India’s electricity is 220 volts. If you have electronic devices that accept 110/220 input, all you need is a two-prong plug adapter, readily available here and from overseas travel suppliers.
