We are proud to announce that Mr. Deun Kim has been awarded the prestigious Marie Bissell Prentice Award for Excellence in International Education, in recognition of his outstanding empathy, integrity, and unwavering commitment to student growth and engagement.
Since joining Woodstock School in September 2023, Mr. Kim has made a remarkable impact across our community—as a teacher, advisor, and a vital member of the Admissions Department. In his role as an Individuals and Societies teacher and Grade 6 advisor, Mr. Kim has created a classroom environment that is both intellectually stimulating and deeply supportive. His students often speak of feeling truly seen and valued—not just as learners, but as individuals.
Mr. Kim brings with him a wealth of international teaching experience, having taught in South Korea and other diverse educational settings. This global perspective enriches his teaching and mentoring, helping students navigate both academic challenges and personal growth with compassion and quiet strength.
Beyond the classroom, Mr. Kim plays a key role in strengthening our connections with Korean families. Through interviews, translation work, recruitment trips, and cultural events, he has helped make Woodstock more welcoming and accessible. His contributions to the Korean Christian Fellowship and chaplaincy program further reflect his dedication to nurturing the spiritual life of our school.
Mr. Kim’s ability to bridge cultures and foster a sense of belonging exemplifies the very best of international education. We are deeply grateful for his presence in our community—his work continues to inspire and uplift us all.
