Write and produce your music

In this class students will learn how to write songs, lyrics, and instrumentals, and how to record the songs in a modern studio.

 

Who should take this course?

This course should be taken by anyone who has interest in poetry, song writing, music, and music technology. You don’t have to be a musician to take this class, as long as you love music and are ready to dig into making it yourself.

 

How will participants be different when they’ve completed this course? What skills or knowledge will they have gained?

At the end of this course, students will be able to create songs from scratch, writing their own lyrics, and creating electronic arrangements for them. They will be able to record instruments and voices, to make professional quality recordings. We’ll even cover how the music industry works, and how song writers get paid in this digital era.

 

Age Range: 10-18

Faculty

Aditya Manral, Singer Songwriter and Dorm Supervisor, Woodstock School

Aditya (Ady) is passionate about music and songwriting, and is an established singer-songwriter in the indie (independent) music scene in India. He has been playing live gigs and festivals for years, and officially released his debut EP globally last year in December. Over the years, Ady has worked with renowned music producers, collaborated with youtube stars and has had his music reviewed by almost all known publications, including the Rolling Stone India, Rock Street Journal etc. His music combines acoustic melodies with simple bi-lingual songwriting structures: “The blues enthusiast who blends Hindi and Western soundscapes.” – The Hindu Newspaper. He is also the co-founder and director of ‘The Big Gig’, a local music festival in Mussoorie and has hosted several other local music events.

 

Ady is a Dorm Supervisor at Woodstock School and has eight years’ experience working with international students. He has been involved in a number of international summer programs for students with Putney Student Travels, including in Nepal, Bhutan, Rajasthan and will also be leading a programme for National Geographic student expedition this year.
